What are SMTP relays?

SMTP relays send messages through your email account using your existing email client. For example, if your Workspace Email account is set up on Outlook, you can continue to use Outlook to compose and send messages, but the actual messages are processed through our SMTP relaying services. This lets you use your professional looking email address from any client you wish (and bypass ISP restrictions on your outbound email messages).

Our SMTP relay service is provided to you as part of your email account. Your email account includes 250 SMTP relays, per mailbox, per day. These relays are only used when sending messages from an email client, such as Outlook. Sending messages from Workspace Webmail doesn’t use SMTP relays.

Your SMTP relay limit can be reset once each day based on a rolling 24 hour period. If you need more than 250 relays for your mailbox, you can purchase additional SMTP relays (in packs of 50). You can use a maximum of 500 SMTP relays, per day, per email account. If you want to use more than 500 relays per day, you can distribute SMTP relays across multiple email accounts.

With Workspace Webmail, you can include up to 100 email addresses (including To, Cc, and Bcc) per email message, regardless of the number of SMTP relays you have per day. For more information, see Email Account Limitations.

Note: These limitations do not apply to Exchange email addresses.
